The Colditz Glider iPhone / iPod Touch / iPad app

Click here to get the app from the iTunes App Store!

The "Colditz Cock" was a glider built by British prisoners of war in a secret attic space inside Colditz Castle during World War Two.

It was an audacious plan, remarkable when viewed from an angle:
* that prisoners could keep a project of this magnitude secret from both the German guards and fellow prisoners.
* that they were able to fashion tools up to the job of constructing the glider.
* that they could gather the materials needed and turn them into the glider components.
* that they actually managed to finish a complete 2-person glider that was airworthy.

This app covers the amazing story of The Colditz Glider and those that built it, alongside images of a 3D model of the glider.

The Supermarine Spitfire is the most recognisable and iconic fighter aircraft ever designed. Its sleek, aerodynamic all-metal design and elliptical wing gave the Spitfire its glamour appeal with communities across England starting Buy-A-Spitfire fundraising campaigns during the war, even though in reality the Hawker Hurricane was actually the workhorse of the RAF during the Battle of Britain.

To coincide with the beginning of the 70th anniversary of the Battle of Britain, we have released the first in a series of apps covering the aircraft involved in this struggle of men and machines above the English Channel and southern England.

Also referred to as the Me-110 by the British, this twin-engined fighter-bomber excelled in the air wars before July 1940. By the end of the Battle of Britain its reputation would be in tatters.

Beautifully created using 3D models with authentic markings, this app looks fantastic on the iPhone and even more so on the delicious iPad screen.

Learn about the history of this remarkable aircraft and the specifications of the Bf-110 C-4 variant that operated during the Battle of Britain.

Look out for reference apps on the other BoB aircraft!
